Hollywood actor na si Sir Christopher Lee, pumanaw na sa edad 93

ANG Hollywood actor na si Sir Christopher Lee ay pumanaw na sa edad 93 dahil sa respiratory problems and heart failure sa Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London noong nakaraang June 9.

Ang kanyang wife, former Danish model Brigit Kroencke kung kanino siya married for 50 years ang siyang naglabas sa media ng pagpanaw ni Lee.

Nakilala si Sir Christopher Lee bilang “master of horror” dahil sa pagganap niya sa iconic role na Count Dracula sa pelikulang Dracula in 1958.

Na-typecast si Lee sa paglabas sa mga horror themed films tulad ng The Curse of Frankenstein, The Wicker Man, The Mummy, The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll at marami pang iba.

Pagkatapos ng ilang horror movies, nag-iba ng genre si Lee noong ’70s at pinili niyang maging villain sa James Bond movie na The Man With The Golden Gun. Soon ay nakatanggap na siya ng iba’t ibang roles tulad sa Airport ’77 at 1941 ni Steven Spielberg.

In 2001, nakilala si Lee ng bagong henerasyon ng film buffs dahil sa pagganap niya as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy at bilang Count Dooku sa dalawang Star Wars movies.

Nakilala rin si Lee sa mga nagawa niyang pelikula with Tim Burton tulad ng Sleepy Hollow, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Alice In Wonderland and Dark Shadows.

Bago pumanaw si Lee, may natapos pa siyang isang movie titled Angel in Notting Hill.

In 2009, he was knighted for services to drama and charity, and was awarded the Bafta fellowship in 2011.

Kahit sa kanyang edad, hindi nagsawa si Lee na umarte dahil ito ay parte na ng buhay niya: “Making films has never just been a job to me, it is my life. I have some interests outside of acting – I sing and I’ve written books, for instance – but acting is what keeps me going, it’s what I do, it gives life purpose.”
