SA unang pagkakataon ay isang woman of color ang nanalo bilang Miss Universe Great Britain.

Since 1952, ay walang woman of color na ang nakokoronahan na Miss Great Britain na nagiging representative sa Miss Universe.

Kaya nakagawa ng history ang 25-year old na si Dee-Ann Kentish Rogers for being the first black woman to represent the UK sa isang international beauty pageant.

“The adrenaline from winning hasn’t died down yet,” sey ni Rogers sa interview niya with The Independent.

“I am extremely proud of myself for this achievement, especially in this post-Brexit and Windrush period.”

“I absolutely believe that diversity is increasing in pageantry and there are many examples around the world. Beauty standards are changing and it is an exciting time for all women of all backgrounds,” diin pa niya.
