TASTE the recipe of Kusina Kings in cinemas nationwide starting on July 25th.
For the first time, Zanjoe Marudo and Empoy Marquez join forces in a movie that will fill your hearts and tummies, the Kusina Kings.
Helmed by Victor Kaiba Villanueva, who directed the critically-accalaimed 2016 film Patay Na Si Hesus, Kusina Kings is the first comedy offering of ABS-CBN Films – Star Cinemas as it celebrates its 25th anniversary in the business.
The film revolves around two best friends – Ronnie (Marudo), an easy-go-lucky kitchen naive and Benjie (Marquez), a chef restaurateur, who has never left each other’s side since high school, especially now that Benjie has joined in the shady “Kusina King Challenge” to save the restaurant.
The two best friends, however, have a feeling out when Ronnie wrongly gives Benjie’s start up money for the Challenge to a scammer. Things then go out of proportion with Ronnie accidentally placing Benjie in a coma. Benjie does not know it is Ronnie’s fault, and Ronnie does not want to confess to Benjie either.
As the two try to save “La Luna SA Hungry” despite tangible bizarre topsy-turvy awkwardness, will Ronnie and Benjie be able to cook the perfect recipe for their friendship?
Kusina Kings is Zanjoe’s comeback to comedy after his remarkable portrayals in movies like Bromance and Kimmy Dora in 2013 and My Illegal Wife in 2014. Empoy, meanwhile, continues to spread his box-office charm coming from his blockbuster hit last year.
Joining the Zanjoe-Empoy team-up is Ryan Bang, who plays Gian Nyeam, a major rival contender in the “Kusina King Challenge.”
Kusina Kings also stars Tiny Corpuz, Jun Sabayton, Joma Labayen, Hyubs Azarcon, Nonong Balinan, Maxine Medina, and Nathalie Hart.
